Fort Scott Lake is
nestled in a heavily wooded setting offering an abundance of
wildlife. The 352-acre lake provides residential living as well
as public boat loading ramps for fishermen and water skiers with
restricted areas. Stocked annually with channel cat, walleye,
smallmouth bass, crappie, muskie and bluegill, it offers hours
of recreation for anglers. Lakeside campsites, shelterhouses and
picnic areas are available to residents and visitors alike. The
lake is also the site of the annual sailboat regatta for the
Fort Scott Sailing Club, and serves as a city reservoir.
50-acre Rock Creek Lake is an integral part of the city and
rural water reserve system.
The Bourbon Wildlife Area offers 200 acres of some of the best
hunting around with quail, deer, turkey, waterfowl and more.
